Cat’s Track #32 – Deidra Garyk
Welcome to Cat’s Track Episode 32, with guest Deidra Garyk.
Deidra grew up outside Medicine Hat, Alberta and moved back to Calgary to pursue a meaningful career almost twenty years ago.
She has had the good fortune of working in the oil and gas industry for over 15 years. Deidra held roles of varying seniority in joint venture contracts where she was responsible for negotiating access to pipelines, compressors, plants, and batteries. As well, she was involved in drafting and interpreting contracts, and communicating effectively to ensure the implementation of the negotiated commercial arrangements. She spent the last few years leading the Joint Venture department at a mid-size natural gas producer.
Two years ago Deidra fell into her passion – energy advocacy – quite by accident. Deidra writes open letters, mainly to politicians, that are published in EnergyNow.ca and are widely shared on social media. She advocates to inspire energy supporters across the country to have confidence to speak up proudly for our industry in an effort to have balanced, honest, fact-based conversations.
