Welcome to Cat’s Track Episode 3, with guest Matthew P. Andrade.
Matthew Andrade is the Managing Director, Public Investments at the Werklund Family Office (WFO), the family office for David Werklund. He is primarily responsible for the public equities, tradable debt and derivatives portfolio with additional responsibilities for various private equity files and new venture evaluation.
Prior to joining the WFO Matthew was the Chief Investment Officer for a multi-family office based in Calgary. In this role, Matthew was responsible for investment oversight of the various families’ holdings on both a public and private basis. He also mentored the younger generations on the investment process and assisted in helping them achieve a greater understanding of how their wealth is managed.
Previously Matthew was Director, Investment Analysis at Kinnear Financial, the family office for James Kinnear, where he was responsible for making asset allocation and security selection recommendations across the public and private holdings of the family. Prior to this he was Vice President, Transaction Advisory Services at Ernst & Young, having spent over five years with the firm including two and a half years in Aberdeen, UK. He has worked with clients in the oil and gas, oilfield services and mining sectors across the Middle East, Europe, and North America and has presented to several industry and private equity groups on industry and transaction matters as well as having been published in the media. Before joining Ernst & Young, Matthew worked for a boutique investment bank in Calgary covering the junior oil & gas and metals & mining sectors. His transaction experience has included initial public and secondary offerings, private placements, merger & acquisition advisory work on both the buy and sell sides as well as a number of management and leveraged buy-out transactions sponsored by both private equity firms and corporations.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Mount Allison University and is a CFA charterholder. He is the past president of the CFA Society Calgary and is the past Chair of the CFA Institute’s Disciplinary Review Committee.
