Registered Nurse – Extended Care (Alberta)
Our client is recruiting for a Registered Nurse for Extended Care. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides a wide variety of nursing services to patients and their families. You will utilize standard nursing processes thorough critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making. The RN acts in accordance with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) standards and aligned to facility policies and procedures.
The RN possesses the related education and clinical experience to assess, treat and educate patient undergoing and recovering from a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with all members of the health care team
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and controlled substances regulations
- Documents patient care appropriately in the medical record
- Participates cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies
- Assists with the orientation and support for new staff to the facility
- Performs related duties as assigned by leader
- Able to start intravenous
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Must be available for Day, Evening and Night Shifts
Physical Requirements
- The work environment is physically demanding and may require different levels of physical exertion, such as long hour standing, lifting and transferring patients
- At times, RNs may work in challenging and stressful circumstances, or in emergency situations
- During the course of their work, RNs may be exposed to blood or body fluids
- Basic orthopaedic bed side nursing is required
- RNs should be able to aid patient with crutches and walker, etc.
Qualifications
Education
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program combined with 2 to 3 years’ recent experience in acute care day surgery/inpatient surgery environment
- Active/eligible for registration and practice with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
Professional
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Excellent assessment, organization, communication and team interaction skills
- Proof of Covid vaccination and updated immunization record is required
- Orthopedic experience is preferred
