Born in High River Alberta, Bruce Tannas was very interested in photography and airplanes as a boy. At the young age of seventeen, he earned his private pilot license from the Air Cadets before he graduated from high school. Bruce attended college in Lethbridge and graduated from Lethbridge College in 1993 with a Business Diploma.
Bruce has had many businesses over the years starting in his first business in high school and then another business which helped him earn his way through College. Since then, Bruce has had several tourism related businesses in Jasper and Banff as well as an ecommerce website. In 2009 Bruce was forced to close his business in Banff due to the global recession and subsequent decline in tourism.
After the failure of his business, Bruce had to think about his next steps. He decided to embark on a mission to help entrepreneurs to be more successful in their businesses. As a result, Bruce has worked as an independent small business consultant, then at Community Futures as a business coach and lender, and finally at Alberta Tourism leading a team helping tourism businesses. Through all these roles, Bruce has helped many entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses.
Bruce moved on in 2020 to found Connect4Commerce which was launched in January 2021. Connect4Commerce’s vision is to be Canada’s preferred marketplace for business, offering entrepreneurs and small business owners across the country a convenient and comprehensive place to connect, exchange goods and services, and advance their businesses. Bruce currently lives in Cochrane Alberta with his wife Lora and his two kids – Kirsten age 15 and Bryan age 11.
