Born and raised in the ward he represents, Jeff Davison is best known for his skill at bringing people together, finding common ground, and building policies and programs that work for everyone.
Since 2017, he has been hard at work to bring a pro-business vision to City Council. He has consistently voted in favour reducing the City’s bottom line, worked with the unions to freeze wages, and supported a tax-shift that provided tax relief to small businesses. He focused on creating and retaining new jobs to Calgary through his work on Calgary Economic Development, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, and the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund.
Jeff is best known for helping to resurrect a deal between City and the Calgary Flames that included a much bigger vision for an Event Centre within the existing Stampede grounds – a move that will create thousands of good paying jobs in construction, while generating billions of dollars in follow-on investment from the private sector and hundreds of million in new property taxes for the City. Calgary’s Event Centre deal has received wide public support for enhancing Calgary’s reputation as an international destination and supporting economic and cultural development.
As a father to three young children, Jeff is committed to helping the City find a new growth strategy that builds on our strengths as an energy hub and entrepreneurial city while balancing economic, social, and environmental priorities. “Calgary knows it can compete on the world stage,” says Jeff. “The question isn’t, if, but how. My job is to plan and deliver the how.”
