Stella is an experienced executive and corporate director with more than 25 years of experience working with global growth companies in agriculture, energy, chemical manufacturing, pipeline and rail transportation, business, and consumer retail industries.
She serves as a corporate director of CES Energy Solutions Corporation where she is Chair of the Health Safety & Environment Committee and member of the Compensation, Nominating and Governance Committee. She was a corporate director of Savanna Energy Services from 2014 to 2017, where she chaired the Human Resources and Compensation Committee, and served on the Governance and Nominating, and Health, Safety and Environment Committees until the sale of the company.
Through her executive and corporate director roles, she has developed significant knowledge, and experience working with boards of directors and C-suite executives in the areas of leadership development, total rewards alignment to business strategy, governance, management of strategic, reputational and people risk, CEO/C-suite and board succession.
Prior to her retirement in mid 2020, Stella was Vice President, People (HR and Health & Safety) for Cervus Equipment Corporation that operates 60 equipment dealerships in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Stella spent 13 years at Agrium as a member of the global HR Leadership Team and played a key role in the strategic initiatives that transformed Agrium from a regional fertilizer company ($3B to $16B) to become a global wholesale producer and agricultural retailer.
Before joining Agrium, Stella held senior leadership positions in the rail and pipeline transportation, financial services, chemical manufacturing, and consumer retail industries. Ms. Cosby holds a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) from Western University in London, Ontario, a Master of Arts in Organization Systems Renewal from Antioch University in Seattle, Washington and is a certified executive coach through the University of Calgary and Newfield Institute. She is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and a graduate of the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program.
Ms. Cosby cofounded and was the Chair of the industry-leading Agrium’s Women’s Leadership Group focused on the development and advancement of women. She has served on the Boards of Elbow Valley West Community, United Way Leaders Cabinet, Banff Calgary WordFest and Strategic Leadership Forum.
