Gregory John, BComm ’13, EMBA Candidate ‘21
Greg is a proud citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta and father of two companies, Four Peaks Business Development Ltd, and most recently, Unimaize Technologies Inc., and has worked in energy, community development, and Indigenous business development throughout his career – and now technology.
His career has allowed him to experience and learn from numerous industries, including the tech start-up world during his time in California. In his past, he had the opportunity to work on four tech start-ups in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley where he was exposed to the world of incredible successes and crushing failures.
This incredible training ground at the global epicentre of venture capital has allowed him to identify best practices and critical errors that have been made in this space, but also has made him acutely attuned in identifying opportunities that are prime for technological revolution.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from the University of Calgary and is a candidate to receive his Executive MBA in 2021 at his alma mater. He is the one of the University of Calgary’s youngest elected Senators, a member of the Calgary Police Chief’s Indigenous Advisory Board, and a member of the 2021 Global Energy Show Executive Steering Committee.
He is a sought-after panelist and keynote speaker and has had the opportunity to bring his Indigenous energy perspective across Canada. He most recently travelled to Japan in November of 2019 to talk around the importance of Indigenous participation in energy to some of Japan’s most senior government and business leaders.
